Preserving What Matters for More
Than Thirty Years

A CHILD’S FIRST DRAWING. A FAMILY HEIRLOOM. A MEMENTO FROM A MILESTONE MOMENT. At Alpine Art & Frame, these treasured items are transformed into lasting displays through expert craftsmanship, archival materials, and an unwavering dedication to preserving what matters most.

For more than thirty years, Alpine Art & Frame has been a trusted custom frame shop and art gallery located in Salt Lake City’s historic Backer’s Square. Led by Apryll Killpack, who has been with the company since its inception, the business has remained rooted in quality, creativity, and community since day one

“We feel so fortunate and proud to have been in business for over three decades,” says Apryll. “Cathi (Sutherland) and I started this together, and we’re still here doing what we love.”

With a staff of ten — most of whom have been with the company for more than a decade — Alpine thrives on shared commitment. “Everyone here is so invested in the success of Alpine,” Apryll says. “The quality of their work and their extraordinary talents in framing and design are the primary reasons for our longevity.” Their loyalty and experience create a continuity that clients recognize and trust, generation after generation.

Alpine specializes in custom framing that goes beyond basic protection. Using archival-quality materials, they frame everything from fine art and textiles to sports memorabilia, wedding keepsakes, and unusually shaped objects. Each frame is designed to reflect the personal style of the client while enhancing the significance of the item itself. Whether it’s a contemporary canvas or a delicate, century-old photograph, Alpine treats every piece with the same level of care, craftsmanship, and precision.

What sets Alpine apart is the personalized, hands-on experience. In contrast to the impersonal world of online ordering, clients at Alpine work directly with knowledgeable, friendly team members to select materials, colors, and styles that bring their vision to life. It’s an interactive process grounded in collaboration, creativity, and care. The shop’s warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it easy for customers to take part in the creative process, often turning first-time visitors into loyal, lifelong clients.

“We cherish our longtime customers and are always thrilled when someone new walks through the door,” Apryll says. “We love our community and always want to give back — whether it’s through donations, events, or simply being part of downtown.”
